Marylebone Apartment
1230 square feet
The client required his period Marylebone apartment remodeled as a central London home. To realize the potential of this property, the team at Antonio Grano began with a complete strip back to the brickwork and floorboards. This step was crucial before redefining the space to meet modern standards.
Before the Transformation
Client Brief
Our client approached us with a specific vision. They wanted a slice of modern luxury in Marylebone. Their goal was to create a home that felt luxurious, serene, and sophisticated. We utilized a palette of cool greys and high-end finishes to achieve this.
The existing layout was redesigned to allow for a spacious lounge, kitchen diner, bedroom, and a separate walk-in wardrobe. The larger end of the existing hallway was transformed into a utility area with additional wardrobes for bathrobes and towels.
Strip Out Phase
The Process
As shown in the before photos, the property required a complete overhaul. The space was gutted, removing dated fixtures and crumbling plaster. This created a blank canvas for a modern central London home.
The Design
The bedroom was designed to evoke the ultimate feeling of rest. The centerpiece is a striking modern interpretation of a Super King four-poster bed. With its chrome frame and architectural design, it commands attention without overwhelming the space.
Continuing the "tones of grey" theme, we softened the area with floor-to-ceiling upholstered wall panels. Sections of backlit onyx create a serene atmosphere, enhancing the calmness of the room.
The sightlines were designed to remain uninterrupted, allowing the focus to stay on the textures of the room: the herringbone floors, the crystal chandelier, and the plush grey velvet wall paneling.
The Dressing Area
Defined by storage and amenities, we carved out a dedicated walk-in dressing area. This space features custom joinery, integrated lighting, and finishes that elevate the act of getting dressed into an occasion.
The Bathroom
The bathroom underwent a remarkable transformation. It was clad in luxurious natural stone, creating a tactile and organic space. This high-quality bathroom features an eight-jet jacuzzi, complemented by subtle mood lighting.
Design Ethos
To achieve the desired effect, we designed a bespoke single-counter kitchen diner lounge. At first glance, it appears to be a sleek, monolithic stone counter. However, it pulls out to reveal a fully functional high-spec kitchen, complete with a hob, fridge, microwave, and a champagne & wine fridge—an essential for any Marylebone residence.
Design Focus
The client required a large lounge with mood lighting and a large screen that was subtle yet functional. They desired a space that could serve as both a lounge and a dining area, while retaining a feeling of quality and comfort. All lighting, music, and media can be controlled via a single app.

The Finishing Touches
Continuing the "tones of grey" theme, we softened the space with floor-to-ceiling upholstered wall panels. Sections of backlit onyx create a serene atmosphere, completing this central London apartment.
