Attic Conversion to Home Office — Hertfordshire

Attic & Loft Conversion, Dormer Window Installation — 1,345 Square Feet

This Hertfordshire project tasked the Antonio Grano building team with a brief that has become increasingly relevant for contemporary homeowners: to transform an underutilised attic into a substantial, dual-purpose space capable of supporting professional home working whilst also providing a comfortable retreat. The key structural intervention was the installation of a new dormer window — a process requiring the careful opening of the existing roof structure, precise timber framing to support the extended form, and a significant alteration to the roofline that dramatically increased both headroom and usable floor area across the converted space.

The resulting room now houses a well-proportioned home office and a relaxing lounge area within a single, coherent volume — flooded with natural light through the new dormer and a Velux window introduced to the rear pitch. High-performance insulation was fitted throughout the frame to ensure year-round thermal comfort, whilst the electrical systems — including the fuse box and central heating — were upgraded to meet the demands of the newly occupied space. Completed in eight weeks, this conversion demonstrates the efficiency and quality of execution that characterises the Antonio Grano approach to residential building work.
