Creation Of An En-Suite Bedroom

Transforming a large lateral Period apartment requires a delicate balance. We must preserve the historical character while introducing high-end functionality for modern living. The primary challenge in this renovation was integrating a modern luxury en suite bathroom into a principle bedroom.

The Focus

We aimed to do this without disrupting the flow of the space or compromising the property's architectural integrity. Our goal was to rebalance the number of bathrooms in the home while ensuring the new addition felt as though it had always been part of the original

Seamless Integration

To achieve this, our design solution involved constructing a bespoke architectural volume within the master suite. Instead of simply partitioning off a corner, we built a dedicated structure to house the new facilities. This approach allowed us to install a substantial one thousand two hundred millimeter concealed rainwater feature shower. This was a specific requirement from the client, who desired a spa-like experience within the bedroom environment. By treating the new en suite as a room within a room, we maintained the generous proportions of the bedroom while adding significant utility

Aesthetic Direction

The aesthetic direction focused on uncompromising luxury to match the grandeur of the Period setting. We utilized large polished slabs for the interior tiling. This choice minimizes visible grout lines and creates a sweeping, monolithic appearance that feels both expansive and opulent. These polished surfaces reflect light beautifully, enhancing the sense of space within the new enclosure. The addition of individual pieces of function and attraction, gentle mood lighting and smart technology integration further elevates the ambiance and finish. This merges classic elegance with contemporary convenience. Externally, the new en suite blends effortlessly with the bedroom.

Seamless Integration with Existing Decor

The walls were finished with high-quality textured wallpaper and joinery that complements the existing decor. This ensures the structure did not feel like an afterthought. The result is a seamless integration of a high-performance wet room into a classic living space. This renovation successfully solved the issue of limited facilities in a large apartment. It provides a positive and sophisticated solution that respects the past while embracing the comforts of the present.
